While taking some test shots in the park area of Brickworks, Canadian photographer Michael Reichmann, quite by accident, found an entrance into one of the sealed buildings. That day, he ended up beginning a series of photographs that took on a life of their own.   

A year later, he was commissioned by Evergreen to document Brickworks through archival materials of how the buildings looked in the past, what they look like now, and how they will change and evolve during the upcoming restoration and renovation stages. This commission has given him unique access to the interior of the site's buildings. ascent is pleased to showcase more photographs and personal musings from this “happy accident”.
