Japan ? Tin Drum (1981). Sylvian?s studio swansong with the group, featuring the beautiful ?Ghosts?.

David Sylvian ? Brilliant Trees (1984). Accomplished, rather ambient, solo debut, made in collaboration with Fourth World trumpeter Jon Hassell, Can?s Hoger Czukay and Ryuichi Sakamoto.

David Sylvian ? Secrets of the Beehive (1987). Gorgeous suite of orchestral pop. Includes ?Orpheus? and the Sakamoto-arranged ballad ?Forbidden Colours?.

David Sylvian ? Dead Bees on a Cake (1999). Elegant devotional music, including the gently euphoric ?I Surrender? and ?Wanderlust?.

David Sylvian ? Everything and Nothing (2000). 2 CD collection of Sylvian?s finest songs, previously released and otherwise. A good place to start.

David Sylvian ? Blemish (2003). First release on Sylvian?s own label, Samadhisound. Dark, minimal songs constructed with avant guitarists Derek Bailey and Christian Fennesz, concluding with the sweet ?Fire in the Forest?.

David Sylvian/Ryuichi Sakamoto. World Citizen (2004). Another surprise. Two very direct, to the point songs about ?the current situation?, the first a protest song, the other balancing spiritual struggle with devotion.
